演讲题目：Diversify or Focus? --A Capability-based Framework of Innovation Strategy

内容简介：Using CIS2008 data collected from 14 European countries, this study considers two dimensions of innovation strategy (innovation objective and knowledge source) and examines how they moderate the relationship between a firm's technological capability and innovation performance.  First, our results provide strong evidence supporting an inverted U shape relationship between a firm's technological capability and innovation performance. Furthermore, we find that for firms with a low level of technological capability, carrying a greater number of innovation objectives and knowledge sources improves innovation performance;   however, for those with a high level of technological capability,  it is better to have a limited amount of innovation objectives and knowledge sources.   The results of this study contribute news insights concerning the design of R&D portfolio to the extant literature of innovation management and provide managerial guidelines on the choice of innovation strategy and R&D investment level.

崔志坚副教授简介

Dr. Zhijian Cui is an Assistant Professor of Operations and Technology Management at IE Business School in Spain, and a visiting Assistant Professor of Operations Management at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology University Business School.  Zhijian's research interest is mainly about the management of knowledge-intensive processes such as R&D,  new product development, etc.  His work appeared in Production and Operations Management,  Decision Science, Research Policy, etc.   Zhijian was nominated as the "Best Professor of Master of Management Program" by IE Business School in 2015 and the "Best Professor of the Year" by MBA Program of Shanghai International Studies University in 2014.   Zhijian Cui received PhD in Operations Management from INSEAD (France),   MBA from Peppperdine University Graziadio School of Business (US),  Master of Management from EuroMed Marseille School of Management (France), and Bachelor of Engineering from Tsinghua University (China).
